Gas Can Explosion Kills Aspiring State Trooper
James Davis III, an aspiring state trooper, was killed in a gas can explosion in Atlantic County, New Jersey. He was airlifted to Temple Hospital Burn Center after suffering 90 percent TBSA burns after a gas can exploded near a bonfire. Davis had been accepted into the Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper program and was to start this year.
Gas can explosions are caused by defective gas cans. For years, gas can manufacturers knew that a simple .15 flame arrestor would prevent flaming propagating into a gas can, yet refused to equip plastic gasoline containers with such simple devices. Flame arrestors keep flames external to the can, and are proven effective at preventing explosions. If you have been injured in a gas can explosion MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE CAN and can an experienced gas can lawyer immediately.
